Umerkote police thwarted a child trafficking attempt on May 21, rescuing three minor girls and arresting two accused near Siunaguda Square during a naka checking operation.
Acting on a tip‑off, ASI P.L. Sunani and his team intercepted a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car. During the inspection, officers found three minors inside the vehicle. Investigations revealed that the accused lured the girls with promises of high wages and planned to take them to Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur region for hazardous factory work.
Police identified the arrested traffickers as Tulashiram Panaka (23) of Ekamba village under Dabugaon police limits and M. Suresh (43) of Erode district, Tamil Nadu. Both were produced in court after arrest.
Authorities registered Umerkote PS Case No. 156 dated 21.05.2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the ISMW Act, 1979. Police seized the Ertiga car (OD 03 J 2199) and two Android mobile phones from the accused.
Medical examinations were conducted for the rescued minors before handing them over to their guardians. Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace possible links to larger trafficking networks.
