Delhi Police arrested Srinivas Louis, a 47-year-old man from Mysuru, Karnataka, for allegedly sending more than 1,100 hoax bomb threat messages to schools, hospitals, high courts, and government offices across India.
Officials confirmed the arrest on Monday after a joint operation with local police teams.
Louis, a postgraduate and native of Bengaluru, currently lives with his mother, a retired government employee. Police said he is unemployed and confessed during interrogation that he sent over 1,100 threat messages through emails and other communication platforms.
The arrest comes amid a surge of bomb threat messages targeting the Delhi High Court, the Assembly, and several educational institutions. Investigators revealed that Louis made hundreds of calls and sent repeated emails threatening to blow up key establishments.
Police traced the origin of the threats to his rented accommodation in Mysuru. They registered multiple FIRs across different states and confirmed that Louis will be brought to Delhi for remand and further interrogation. Authorities aim to determine whether he issued similar threats in other regions.
Officials noted that the preliminary investigation suggests Louis may have been under mental stress. His actions created widespread panic and forced security agencies to respond to numerous false alarms.
