A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver in Mumbai.
The victim was found unconscious at Ram Mandir station, and pieces of stone were discovered to have been inserted into her private parts.
However, police sources said that after investigating the victim’s statement, it was revealed that the woman had misled the authorities. The woman had herself inserted a surgical blade and some pieces of stone into her private parts. She lives with her family in Nalasopara and has fabricated the entire story to avoid being scolded and punished by her parents.
The woman had gone to Arnala Beach in Virar with an auto driver. Due to the lack of identification, they were unable to get a place at a guest house, so they stayed on the beach overnight. During this time, the accused rickshaw driver allegedly took advantage of the situation and assaulted her, then fled the scene.
Afterwards, the woman made her way to Nalasopara railway station. As per sources, fearing that her parents would beat her upon her return home, she bought a surgical blade from a medical store and, in isolation, inserted it into her private parts along with some pieces of stone.
When she began experiencing pain, she took a local train to Ram Mandir station, where she was found by the police. The police from Vanarai station took her into custody and have filed a rape case against the unidentified auto driver, with an investigation underway.
The woman initially told the police that her parents were not alive, but this turned out to be false. The victim’s father later informed the police that the girl had filed rape cases against two individuals in 2023 at the Nirmal Nagar and Shivaji Nagar police stations.
The Vanarai police arrested the auto driver last night and brought him to the police station.
