Police have busted a female loot gang that was active during the Rath Yatra celebrations in the capital city. Acting swiftly, officers arrested eight women involved in thefts amid the festive crowds and sent them to jail.
According to officials, the gang targeted devotees during the chariot festival, taking advantage of the heavy rush. Several mobile phones were seized from the arrested women. Police confirmed that the recovered devices will be returned to their rightful owners.
The arrests were made following a detailed investigation by the Nayapalli police station, which tracked the gang’s movements during the festival. Authorities said the women operated in groups, blending into the crowd before snatching valuables.
