An Air India flight (AI139) en route from Delhi to Tel Aviv was diverted to Abu Dhabi on Sunday following a missile attack near the Israeli city’s airport.
The incident occurred less than an hour before the aircraft, a Boeing 787, was scheduled to land.
The decision to reroute was made while the flight was traversing Jordanian airspace, according to flight tracking data. Meanwhile, Air India’s return flight from Tel Aviv to Delhi was cancelled for the day. Air traffic at Tel Aviv airport was briefly suspended after the missile, reportedly launched from Yemen, struck near the airport.
A statement from Air India regarding the incident is awaited. Authorities continue to assess the security situation as tensions in the region remain high.
