Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants broke into a jewellery shop near Patia station under Infocity police station on Friday late at night and made away with ornaments worth more than Rs.15 lakhs.
According to reports, the jewellery shop owner, Benudhar Sathua and his son Suresh Kumar Sathua today morning reached their shop to open it when they noticed the lock broken and the jewellery missing.
On intimation, Infocity police station reached the spot and started collecting clues with the help of a sniffer dog.
Source said, the sniffer dog repeatedly led to a makeshift tin shack near the shop where some workers were staying. But interestingly, the workers had deserted the place since yesterday which makes the police more suspicious.
Apart from this, the police also suspect some local anti-social youths who lurk in the area till late night.
According to the shop owner, the robbery was captured on CCTV footage. The police have collected it and started a preliminary investigation.
