Four men kidnapped a minor boy in Bhubaneswar by luring him with biryani. The accused demanded Rs 20,000 ransom from the boy’s sister, threatening to kill him if she refused.
The incident occurred last Thursday when the boy went to buy biryani. The kidnappers took him to Tarini Basti in VSS Nagar and later called his sister to demand money. They warned her that the boy would be killed and dumped if the ransom was not paid.
Sahidnagar police acted swiftly after receiving the complaint. Officers raided the location, rescued the boy safely, and arrested all four accused. The arrested men were identified as Manas Singh alias Mania, Mitu Nayak, Manas Ranjan Swain, and Rajesh Sahu.
Investigators revealed that the accused also looted Rs 1,800 from the boy and subjected him to torture during captivity. Police registered cases against them under various sections of the IPC and produced them in court.
