A chilling incident has rocked Odisha’s Sundargarh district, where a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men while returning home from a ‘ceremony’.

The crime, which took place in the Talsara police station area near Kurei village in the Tunguridhipa region, has sparked outrage among locals.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Talsara police station, the girl was abducted, assaulted in a nearby forest, and threatened with death if she spoke about the ordeal.

The incident occurred in the early hours of April 22, 2025, when the victim, along with two other girls, was walking back home around 2 a.m. after attending a function in a nearby village. As they made their way home, three men confronted them and attempted to grab the girls. Frightened, the girls tried to flee, but the accused managed to catch the minor, forcibly dragged her into a Bolero vehicle, and took her to a nearby forest. There, the perpetrators allegedly gang-raped her throughout the night. The accused released her in the morning but threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.

Despite the threats, the survivor showed immense courage and informed her family about the horrific ordeal. Accompanied by her family, she approached the Talsara police station and lodged an FIR against the perpetrators. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and have initiated an investigation to apprehend the three accused, who are currently on the run. A special team has been formed to track down the culprits, and the police have assured swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
