Minor Boy Held For Cyber Fraud; Rs 1.05 Lakh, Laptop & ATM Cards Seized

Umerkote: Nabarangpur district’s Umerkote police have apprehended a minor boy hailing from Balipadar village in Ganjam district on the charge of cyber fraud.

According to information, a person named Gokula Biswas of Sanakhadaka village under Murtuma Panchayat of Umerkote block was duped of Rs 1.05 lakh by cyber fraudsters.

Gokula received a phone call from 8263963126 asking him to approve an application on his mobile. Shortly after Gokula approved the app, the amount was deducted from his bank account. He then lodged a written complaint with Umerkote police station.

The police managed to track and arrest the minor from Balipadar village in Gangam district with the help of cyber crime police. A laptop used in cyber fraud, 3 ATM cards, 5 cheque books, 2 bank passbooks and cash worth Rs 1.05 lakh were seized following the minor’s arrest.

Investigation is underway to ascertain involvement of other persons, if any, said Umerkote SDPO Shubhendu Sabar.
