Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has reappointed her nephew Akash Anand as the party’s national convenor, reversing her decision to remove him from organizational responsibilities less than a month ago.
The sudden political u-turn marks the latest shift in a complex leadership narrative within the BSP involving Mayawati, her brother Anand Kumar, and his sons Akash and Ishan Anand.
Akash Anand, who was previously projected as Mayawati’s political successor, has been brought back into the main fold to oversee key party functions ahead of upcoming political engagements. The reinstatement comes after a brief period of exclusion during which organizational duties were realigned.
The move signals a re-consolidation of central leadership within the party as Mayawati recalibrates the BSP’s strategy and internal hierarchy.
