A shocking incident has come to light in Kathpher village under Boden police limits of Nuapada district, where the body of a man was recovered from a drain three days after he went missing.
The deceased has been identified as Akalu Paharia (62), while his younger brother Raju Paharia (45) has been detained by police for questioning in connection with the suspected murder.
According to police sources, the two brothers had visited Boden headquarters on August 3 for Aadhaar card correction work. A heated argument reportedly broke out between them over a trivial issue. Preliminary investigation suggests that Raju allegedly attacked his elder brother with a stick and later dumped the body in a nearby drain near Babepada forest.
After receiving information from former Samiti member Soudagar Sahu, police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to Bhawanipatna Medical College for post‑mortem. The accused was later picked up from the Patdara area and taken into custody.
Boden IIC Dharmendra Bhue said that investigation is underway from all angles. “The exact cause of death will be clear after the post‑mortem and investigation reports,” he added.
