A man sustained injuries after being attacked with sharp weapons by four persons due to previous enmity in Bendalia village under Berhampur Sadar police limits of Ganjam district on Tuesday morning.
At about 5:30 AM, Bhalu alias Sibasankar Sahu and three unidentified associates intercepted Pintu Sethi near a bridge on the outskirts of Bendalia while he was riding his motorcycle towards Kukudakhandi for work. The attackers assaulted him with sharp weapons, leaving him injured on both hands and head.
Eyewitnesses out for a morning walk have been identified by police. Pintu’s younger brother rushed him to MKCG Hospital, where doctors provided preliminary treatment before referring him to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. His condition remains stable.
The accused fled the scene immediately after the assault. SP Berhampur and SDPO Sadar visited the location and directed intensified patrolling. Police teams launched raids to apprehend the attackers. Authorities confirmed that eyewitness accounts will strengthen the investigation.
Residents expressed concern over the violent attack and demanded swift arrests. Police detained two accused persons, including the main accused, while raids continue to arrest the remaining suspects.
