Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while addressing a gathering in Patna on Sunday, invoking Lord Ram over the Ayodhya temple fund theft controversy and calling for a nationwide movement against electoral roll revisions.
Invocation of Lord Ram and Attacks on RSS-BJP
Focusing on the alleged financial irregularities surrounding the Ayodhya temple fund, Kharge prayed for divine intervention to hold those responsible accountable.
”Lord Ram should open his eyes and punish those who have allegedly looted wealth in his name,” Kharge declared during his speech.
Kharge further charged the BJP-RSS alliance with undermining the historical legacy of Bihar’s prominent leaders, including Dr. Rajendra Prasad, while alleging that “jungle raj” prevails in the state. He asserted that peace in the country would remain elusive as long as the RSS ideology persists. Referring to a previous controversial ‘shuddhikaran’ (purification) incident directed at him, Kharge noted that while BJP President J.P. Nadda promised an inquiry, an FIR was instead registered against Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Haldwani.
Call for ‘Second War of Independence’ Against SIR and Electoral Reform
Turning to electoral integrity, Kharge targeted the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, framing the opposition to the exercise as a pivotal battle for Indian democracy.
”We demand that all elections be conducted on ballot papers, SIR halted immediately, and assembly polls held in the last two years annulled,” Kharge stated, urging the people of Bihar to lead a nationwide movement against the revision process.
