Malkangiri Police uncovered a shocking murder plot where a man killed his close friend to pursue the victim’s wife. Officers arrested two accused and produced them in court.
Investigators revealed that the accused, Sameer Vaidya and the victim, Uttam Biswas, were close friends. Sameer’s wife had been living separately for six years due to domestic issues. During frequent visits to Uttam’s house, Sameer developed an illicit interest in Uttam’s wife and repeatedly tried to contact her. Believing that Uttam’s death would clear his path, Sameer conspired to eliminate him.
Sameer approached his associate Abhi Mujumdar, a native of West Bengal, with the plan. Abhi demanded Rs 50,000 to carry out the murder, but Sameer agreed to pay Rs 40,000. On February 4, both lured Uttam near the kendu leaf warehouse at MV-16 village. They offered him liquor and later attacked him. Abhi repeatedly stabbed Uttam with a knife, killing him instantly.
The duo dragged the body, took his slippers and mobile phone, and fled. Sameer paid Abhi Rs 30,000 as part of the deal. Abhi escaped to West Bengal, while Sameer stayed in Malkangiri. Police tracked the suspects, exposed the conspiracy, and arrested both.
Police officials confirmed that further investigation continues into financial transactions and communications linked to the crime. The arrests brought closure to a brutal case that shocked the district.
