Security forces have intensified operations against Maoist groups in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma and Dantewada regions, resulting in the elimination of two Maoists, including a top leader.
The operations were carried out following intelligence reports about Maoist camps in the region.
On Monday, a woman Maoist was killed in Dantewada during a shootout, and her body was recovered along with weapons. In Sukma, police successfully neutralized Jagdish alias Budra, a Maoist commander involved in high-profile attacks. Jagdish masterminded the Jhiram Ghati assault, killing 33 Congress leaders, and an attack in Narayanpur that claimed the lives of 22 personnel.
Following a targeted search operation, security forces encountered Jagadish and a group of Maoists in the forests of Sukma. Jagadish’s death is considered a pivotal success in the fight against Maoist insurgency in Bastar, where leadership among Maoists is now weakened significantly.
