Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the victorious candidates and the broader student community following the conclusion of campus union elections across Odisha.
In a statement posted on his official social media handles, Patnaik commended the democratic spirit shown by the state’s youth, describing the election outcomes as a definitive testament to the dedication, unity, and strength of Odisha’s Generation Z and student power.
Allegations of Political Interference
Taking a direct swipe at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration, the veteran leader praised members of the BJD and its student wing, the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD), for standing firm against administrative pressures.
”I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winning candidates and students in the Student Parliament election. This victory reflects the dedication and unity of Odisha’s #GenZ, youth, and student power.
I commend all the leaders of BJD and BCJD who stood firmly against the BJP government’s conspiracy to win the Student Parliament election through injustice and unfair means. Let us all unite to move forward in maintaining the academic environment of the college and shaping a bright future for the students,” Patnaik stated.
Preserving Academic Integrity
Patnaik’s remarks follow allegations by BJD leadership accusing the state machinery of utilizing law enforcement to intimidate student leaders prior to polling day.
Concluding his message, the Leader of the Opposition called upon student representatives across party lines to prioritize educational standards and collaborate constructedly to preserve peaceful academic environments in higher education institutions across the state.
