Meteorologists expect a low-pressure area to form over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions by July 3 as a cyclonic circulation remains active near the southern Bangladesh coast.
Weather experts said the system is likely to develop over the northwestern Bay and its surrounding areas, supported by favourable atmospheric conditions. The active cyclonic circulation over the northern Bay and adjacent coastal zones of southern Bangladesh may gradually strengthen into a low-pressure area.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) continues to monitor the evolving system closely. The formation of the low-pressure area could enhance rainfall activity across coastal Odisha and neighbouring states.
Forecast models indicate that the system may bring moderate to heavy showers to parts of north coastal Odisha, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur districts. Fishermen have been advised to stay cautious while venturing into the sea as wind speeds may increase over the Bay.
The IMD will issue detailed updates once the system develops further.
