A daring daylight robbery shocked Rayagada on Monday when miscreants snatched Rs 2 lakh near the SBI (ADB) branch on Kapilas Road.
The incident occurred as Ranjit Kumar Dalai, an accountant of Patra Electronics showroom, was on his way to deposit the money at the bank.
Two bike-borne looters approached from behind and grabbed the cash bag before fleeing. Dalai attempted to chase them, but the culprits managed to escape.
Following the complaint, Town Police Station Inspector Prasanna Kumar Behera reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects.
The incident has raised concerns about security near banks and busy commercial zones in Rayagada. Locals demanded stricter patrolling and surveillance to prevent such crimes.
