A devastating road accident occurred on National Highway 49 near Tentuli village under Keonjhar Sadar police station limits, resulting in the tragic deaths of a man and his son. The mother sustained serious injuries in the incident, casting a pall of grief over the local community.
The victims have been identified as Noor Salim (35) and his six-year-old son, Md Nooraya. The family was travelling on a motorcycle towards Deogarh when the accident happened. According to eyewitnesses, the rider lost balance and collided with the rear of a truck moving ahead. Both father and son died on the spot due to the impact.
The mishap took place just a short distance from the Suakati police outpost. Local residents and police quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the injured mother—whose name has not been disclosed—and rushing all three to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors declared the father and son dead upon arrival, while the mother is receiving treatment for her critical injuries.
Following the incident, the police conducted post-mortem examinations on the bodies and handed them over to the family. Noor Salim had been working as a dynamo mechanic near Tentuli for many years and was well-known in the area. His sudden demise has left the community in shock and mourning.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary reports pointing to a loss of control. This stretch of NH 49 has seen several accidents in the past, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
