‘Loo Se Bhi Bheeshan Loo’: Noida, Ghaziabad Residents Get Emergency Heatwave Alert As Temperatures Near 46°C

Residents of Noida and Ghaziabad received a fresh emergency weather alert on Wednesday as extreme heat conditions continued to grip the Delhi-NCR region.

The alert, issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), warned people about dangerously hot winds described as “loo se bhi bheeshan loo” — meaning winds even harsher than regular loo conditions.

The warning comes as temperatures across the national capital region continue to rise rapidly.

NDMA Issues Severe Heatwave Alert Across Multiple Districts

The NDMA alert covered several districts across Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Mathura, Kanpur Nagar, Hathras, Mainpuri, Mirzapur and Bhadohi.

Authorities warned residents to remain cautious as extremely hot and dry winds are expected to intensify during the afternoon hours.

The alert triggered concern among citizens already struggling with severe summer temperatures and rising humidity levels.

IMD Sounds Orange Alert For Delhi-NCR

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi and nearby NCR regions due to the worsening heatwave situation.

According to the IMD, temperatures in parts of Delhi-NCR could touch 46 degrees Celsius over the next few days.

Delhi already recorded one of its hottest days this season with temperatures crossing 44.5 degrees Celsius.

The orange alert indicates potentially dangerous weather conditions that could affect daily life, especially vulnerable groups such as children, senior citizens and outdoor workers.

Hot Winds Expected Across North India

Weather officials said strong northwesterly surface winds are expected across several northern states.

Wind speeds may reach up to 20 kmph during peak afternoon hours in states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Odisha.

The combination of scorching temperatures and dry winds is likely to worsen discomfort levels significantly.

Authorities Advise People To Stay Indoors

Health experts and disaster management authorities have advised residents to avoid direct sun exposure during afternoon hours.

People have also been urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities and immediately seek medical help in case of symptoms such as dizziness, dehydration or heatstroke.

Schools, offices and local administrations in some regions are also reviewing precautionary measures as the heatwave intensifies.

Social Media Reacts To ‘Bheeshan Loo’ Alert

The phrase “loo se bhi bheeshan loo” quickly went viral online after people began sharing screenshots of the NDMA emergency alert.

Many social media users described the warning as alarming, while others expressed concern about rising temperatures and worsening climate conditions across North India.

With temperatures expected to remain dangerously high over the coming days, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
