One person lost his life and another was critically injured due to a lightning strike early this morning Dorkamunda village under Boden police station in Nuapada district.
The deceased has been identified as Parsuram Satnami, aged 40. He, along with his relative Lobha Satnami (45), had gone to their farmland for agricultural work. As heavy rain accompanied by thunder began, both sought shelter under a tree. Unfortunately, lightning struck the area, leaving both men severely injured.
Local residents rushed them to the Khariar Sub-Health Centre, where doctors declared Parsuram dead on arrival. Lobha, whose condition was critical, was later transferred to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
Police have confirmed that Parshuram’s body will be handed over to his family after post-mortem procedures are completed.
