Odisha Vigilance today apprehended Manoj Ranjan Nayak, Block Programme Manager (NHM) of Kujanga CHC, while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a health staffer.
Nayak allegedly threatened an Ashakarmi worker that her retirement would be advanced based on an erroneous date of birth in her Aadhaar card, despite her school leaving certificate confirming two more years of service. Under pressure, the staffer lodged a complaint with Vigilance authorities.
Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Nayak red‑handed while taking the bribe. The entire tainted amount was recovered from his possession and seized.
Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Nayak to probe disproportionate assets. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 31 dated 19.08.2026 has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress.
