Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended Rupchand Nayak, Junior Assistant at the office of the Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF), Nicolson Forest Training School, Champua, while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a retired employee.
The complainant, who retired voluntarily in 2024, had been persistently requesting Nayak to process his final pension documents and arrear salary bill. However, Nayak allegedly demanded ₹30,000 to complete the paperwork. Frustrated by the delay and harassment, the complainant approached Odisha Vigilance, leading to a trap that culminated in Nayak’s arrest earlier today.
The entire bribe amount was recovered from Nayak’s possession and seized. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are underway at two of Nayak’s properties to investigate disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. 09/2025, U/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the probe progresses.
