Katie Boulter crashed out of the French Open after losing a three-set battle to 28th seed Anastasia Potapova on Court 13, the notorious graveyard of British hopes.
Boulter fought hard, taking the opening set 7-5 against the fiery Potapova. She saved three set points in the second set but eventually lost 6-4. Potapova seized momentum and closed the match with a dominant 6-2 final set.
The defeat ended Britain’s campaign at Roland Garros, with all six players failing to reach the third round. Court 13 claimed its fourth British victim this year, following Emma Raducanu, Fran Jones, and Cameron Norrie.
Meanwhile, French teenager Moise Kouame thrilled home fans by reaching the third round in a five-hour epic against Adolfo Daniel Vallejo. At 17, Kouame became the youngest man since Rafael Nadal to achieve this feat at a Grand Slam. He sealed victory in a tense fifth-set tie-break, winning 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6 (10/8).
Frances Tiafoe also made headlines after losing his racquet during post-match celebrations. The American later recovered it when fans returned it in exchange for tickets to his next match.
