Students who could not secure admission to higher secondary schools during the first phase of Odisha’s +2 admission process will get another opportunity, with the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) set to begin Phase-II applications on August 24.

The Phase-II admission process for the 2026-27 academic session will be conducted online through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal.

According to the announced schedule, candidates will be able to access and submit the Common Application Form (CAF) from August 24. The application window will remain open until August 31.

Odisha +2 Phase-II admission schedule

The first selection merit list for Phase-II admissions will be published on September 3. Students selected in the merit list will have to report to their allotted institutions between September 7 and 10.

Schools will also update the admission details during this period. Institutions will be allowed to rectify errors in admission data until September 11.

Candidates will subsequently get an opportunity to lock their choices and submit fresh options between September 12 and 16.

The online spot selection merit and waiting lists will be published on September 21. Admissions under the spot selection process will be conducted from September 22 to 25.

If seats remain vacant after the spot admission process, candidates on the waiting list will be allowed to submit handwritten applications on September 26. The corresponding merit lists will also be published on the same day.

Over 32,000 students get another chance

A total of 4,61,325 students had applied during Phase-I of the admission process. Of these, 4,29,219 students were selected, taking the first-phase selection rate to around 93.04%.

As many as 2,97,454 students were allotted seats in their first-preference higher secondary school.

However, 32,106 students who were not selected in Phase-I will now have another opportunity through the Phase-II selection and online spot admission processes.

Who can apply for Phase-II admission?

Students who have passed the High School Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, or an equivalent examination conducted by another recognised board, are eligible to apply.

Admissions in Phase-II will be based strictly on merit, and no reservation or additional weightage will be applicable under this process.

Students who had applied during Phase-I but were not selected can submit a fresh application without paying the CAF fee. Fresh applicants, however, will have to pay the prescribed application fee.

Students advised to fill CAF carefully

DHSE has advised applicants to exercise caution while filling out the Common Application Form. Applications containing incorrect information or errors may be rejected.

The first selection will be based on vacancies available as of August 31, while the spot allotment process will consider vacancies available as of September 16.

Candidates will not be able to claim seats that become vacant after the respective cut-off dates.

Students seeking admission to Odisha higher secondary schools are therefore advised to check the SAMS portal and follow the prescribed schedule carefully once the Phase-II application window opens on August 24.
