A tragic incident occurred in Kataka during Ganesh idol immersion, after a youth was swept away along with the idol in the Taldanda Canal.
The missing youth has been identified as Ranjit Natia, a resident of the Tingharia area of Kataka.
Youth goes missing during immersion
According to the information available, Ranjit reportedly entered the canal during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony when he was swept away along with the idol.
He subsequently went missing in the water, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Fire services launch rescue operation
Following the incident, the fire services were pressed into action and launched a search and rescue operation in the Taldanda Canal.
Fire personnel are continuing their efforts to trace the missing youth. The search operation is currently underway, while further details are awaited.
