A tragic incident occurred in Lingara Nala near Tipirisingha in Anugola district when two Kanwariyas were swept away by strong water currents while collecting water for the Jalabhishek ritual on the occasion of the second Shravan Somvar.
Locals managed to rescue one devotee, but the other remains missing. The mishap reportedly happened when the duo entered the nullah without realising the strength of the current.
Upon receiving information, the Anugola Fire Service team rushed to the spot and launched an intensive search and rescue operation, which continues. Preliminary reports suggest the missing Kawadia may be from Bentapur, though his identity is yet to be confirmed.
Officials said heavy rainfall in the region has sharply raised the water level in the nullah, making the current dangerously strong. The district administration has urged devotees and residents to exercise extreme caution near rivers, nullahs, and other water bodies during the monsoon period.
