Dharamgarh: A woman and her three sons were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a peon working at the Atigaon Revenue Inspector’s office in 2018.
Dharmagarh Additional District Session Judge Bandana Kar today delivered the verdict of the sensational murder case handing down life imprisonment to Kuchita Dandasena, and her three sons Radhu Dandasena, Pita Dandasena and Jadu Dandasena.
According to the case details, on 14th June 2018, Radhu, Pita, and Jadu were illegally occupying a piece of government land near the Revenue Inspector’s office in Junagarh Block and were trying to erect a house early in the morning.
As it was government land, Chhayakanta Dandasena, working as a temporary peon in the Atigaon Revenue Inspector’s office, asked them to stop work and advised them to wait until the Revenue Inspector arrives. However, accused Radhu overpowered Chhayakanta and his mother Kuchita handed him over an axe. When Radhu was brutally hacking Chhayakanta with the axe, his two brothers Pita and Jadu were holding Chhayakanta’s hands.
A critically injured Chhayakanta was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Bhawanipatna where he breathed his last. Junagarh police then registered a case of murder and apprehended the accused persons.
On Saturday, the Dharmagarh additional district sessions Judge Bandana Kar sentenced Kuchita Dandasena and his three sons Radhu, Pita and Jadu to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 for each. In default of payment in fine will result in onw more year of rigourous imprisonment. Public prosecutor Purnachandra Nag was handling the case on behalf of the government.
