Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra sparked a debate during a preparatory meeting for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Odisha visit.

Discontent was palpable at the recent BJP meeting held at Burla MCL, chaired by state president Manmohan Samal.

Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra made headlines by choosing to remain seated at the back of the room despite repeated requests to move to the front. Mishra, stating, “I didn’t move because I thought I wasn’t qualified.”

When asked about his decision, Mishra expressed dissatisfaction with the seating arrangement and remarked to the media, “I lack the necessary qualifications to sit in the front.” His statement has sparked speculation about underlying tensions within the party.

Mishra’s comments, questioning the relevance of seating based on one’s role and qualifications, have caused ripples within the BJP. His indirect criticism of senior leaders’ involvement in party decisions has further fueled “internal discontent”.

The meeting witnessed Mishra’s pointed remarks, which have since become a topic of discussion among party members.

Observers are interpreting Mishra’s actions as a subtle yet significant expression of dissatisfaction. The incident has added a layer of intrigue to the political dynamics within the BJP in Odisha .

Mishra’s stance highlights potential internal challenges as the party prepares for Shah’s visit.

Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a three-day visit to Odisha from March 21 to 23, 2025, during which he will lay foundation stones for several critical government projects. The itinerary includes visits to Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Puri, along with public meetings and temple visits.

Odisha BJP leaders have already held strategic meetings in anticipation of his visit, discussing plans to ensure the success of the event. Party leaders from Western Odisha were actively involved in preparations to make this occasion impactful for the public.

Stay tuned for updates on this visit and its significance for Odisha’s development.
