Jay Dholakia, the newly elected BJP MLA from Nuapada, will take the oath of office and secrecy today at the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Speaker Surama Padhy will administer the oath during the official ceremony.
Dholakia secured a decisive victory in the recent by-election, defeating BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria and Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi by a huge margin. Consequently, his win marked a significant moment for the BJP in Nuapada and strengthened the party’s presence in western Odisha.
The by-election became necessary after the death of his father, Rajendra Dholakia, who previously held the seat as the sitting MLA. Following the vacancy, the Election Commission scheduled the poll on November 11. As a result, Jay Dholakia emerged victorious on November 24, carrying forward his father’s political legacy.
Supporters and party workers celebrated his success across Nuapada. Moreover, they viewed his victory as a continuation of the Dholakia family’s influence in local politics. The oath-taking ceremony today will officially mark his entry into the Assembly, where he intends to represent the interests of his constituency with renewed energy.
