Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera has written to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi seeking an independent, time‑bound Crime Branch investigation into the disappearance of minor girl Pihu from Binjharpur in 2020.

In his letter, Behera highlighted allegations raised by Pihu’s mother, Monalisa Nayak, regarding lapses in the initial police investigation. He questioned the role of then Inspector‑in‑Charge Niranjan Sabar, alleging delay, negligence, and irregularities in handling the sensitive case. The MP demanded that the Crime Branch examine all relevant records—including the original complaint, FIR, case diary, and station diary entries—to establish what transpired during the early stages of the probe.

Pihu went missing on August 9, 2020, from Madhusudanpur under Binjharpur police limits. The case was registered five days later under Section 363 of the IPC. Despite repeated appeals, her family claims the investigation lacked urgency. Nearly six years later, Pihu remains untraced.

The case has previously drawn attention from the National Human Rights Commission, which directed Odisha police to submit a report. In 2022, Binjharpur police announced a Rs 5‑lakh reward for information, but no breakthrough has been achieved.

Behera has urged the Chief Minister to ensure accountability, stating that any dereliction of duty or misconduct by officials should invite departmental and legal action. His intervention has reignited public concern over the unresolved disappearance and the need for a credible investigation.
