In a daytime robbery, miscreants snatched an 11-gram gold chain from a woman travelling on a motorcycle near Matiapala Square along National Highway-16 under the Sora police limits in Baleshwar.
The victim, Kabita Panigrahi, wife of Kamalakanta Panigrahi from Badapokhari village under the Oupada police station, was returning home after shopping in Sora with her husband on a motorcycle. According to the complaint, two unidentified criminals on a bike intercepted them near Kanak Durga Hotel, barely a hundred meters from the Sora police station, and forcefully yanked the gold chain from her neck.
The sudden yank caused Kabita to fall off the moving two-wheeler, leaving her severely injured. Local bystanders rushed to her aid and immediately shifted her to the Sora hospital for medical treatment.
A formal complaint has been lodged at the Sora police station. Local authorities have launched a detailed investigation and are reviewing potential leads to track down the culprits.
