Sahid Nagar Police registered a case against an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer in Bhubaneswar after a young woman accused him of rape inside his government quarters at Satsang Vihar.
According to the complaint, the officer lived with his family in the quarters. Earlier this month, his sister visited them along with a friend from Kujang. On February 15, when the officer’s wife and sister went out, the young woman stayed back. The officer allegedly asked her to watch a movie on his laptop, but instead played obscene content and then raped her.
The victim stated that when she protested, the officer threatened her by claiming he had secretly recorded her while she was changing clothes in the bathroom. He allegedly warned that he would circulate the footage if she reported the incident.
Frightened, the woman left the quarters. Later, when his wife and sister returned, the officer told them she had gone to her village after receiving an urgent call. After returning home, she initially remained silent. On February 18, she learned that a video recorded by the officer had been circulated. When she confronted him, he allegedly threatened to send the video to her family unless she met him at a hotel in Puri.
Unable to bear the threats, the woman approached the Sahid Nagar Police and lodged a complaint. Police registered the case and began an investigation into the allegations.
