Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was reportedly the target of an Iranian assassination plot while staying in South Florida, prompting Israeli authorities to instruct him to leave the United States immediately.
According to reports from Newsmax and The Jerusalem Post, Israeli intelligence learned of the plot in December last year, discovering that Iranian operatives were already on the ground in Miami, conducting surveillance of Yair’s residence and movements. He was under Israeli security protection at the time and departed the US without collecting his belongings.
The revelation follows Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent statement to Channel 14 that one of his sons had been targeted by Iran. “Iran tried to murder one of my sons,” he said, without specifying whether Yair or Avner was the intended target.
The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has since expanded personal protection for Netanyahu’s family, including his wife Sara and sons Yair and Avner, under a July directive from the Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs.
The alleged plot comes amid broader Iranian‑linked threats, including videos circulated by regime‑affiliated outlets targeting US First Lady Melania Trump and her son Barron, raising concerns over Tehran’s global reach and state‑sponsored intimidation campaigns.
