Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, declared that recent US and Israeli military operations against Iran failed to achieve any objectives, including regime change or territorial gains.
In an interview with Russian daily Vedomosti, cited by Al Jazeera, Jalali said the attacks “achieved nothing.” He noted that Washington and Tel Aviv initially aimed to overthrow Iran’s leadership but later reduced their goals to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. “They failed in every task,” he asserted. Jalali dismissed the naval blockade as meaningless against Iran’s “iron will.”
The envoy warned that diplomacy would not yield results where military force failed. He emphasised that Tehran would only accept fair, win-win agreements. “What Trump did not achieve during the war, he will not achieve through negotiations,” Jalali said, underscoring Iran’s refusal to negotiate under pressure.
The remarks come as the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the US nears its April 22 expiry. Islamabad talks remain the final diplomatic off-ramp before potential escalation. The first round ended in deadlock over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program.
