Indian Railways achieved 80% overall punctuality between 8 and 14 December, underscoring its commitment to operational efficiency and passenger convenience.
The performance reflects sustained efforts across divisions to maintain schedules and improve service reliability.
Out of all divisions, 37 recorded punctuality above 80%. Among them, 22 divisions surpassed the 90% mark, while 10 divisions achieved more than 95%. Ratlam Division of Western Railway led the chart with an impressive 98.5% punctuality. Tiruchchirappalli Division of Southern Railway followed at 97.5%, and Madurai Division secured 96.7%.
The improved punctuality has streamlined train operations nationwide. Passengers experienced smoother journeys, while freight services benefited from enhanced scheduling and reduced delays. Railway officials emphasised that consistent monitoring, better coordination, and operational discipline contributed to the achievement.
Indian Railways continues to prioritise punctuality as a key performance indicator. Divisions are adopting technology-driven monitoring systems, strengthening crew management, and optimising track utilisation. These measures aim to sustain high punctuality levels and further improve passenger satisfaction.
The achievement also highlights the importance of regional divisions in driving national performance. Ratlam, Tiruchchirappalli, and Madurai demonstrated how disciplined operations and effective resource management can deliver exceptional results.
With punctuality crossing 95% in several divisions, Indian Railways is setting new benchmarks for efficiency. Officials noted that the focus will remain on maintaining consistency, expanding best practices across divisions, and ensuring that passengers and freight operators continue to benefit from reliable services.
