The Indian Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams showcased their prowess as the Bhubaneswar leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2024/25 came to an exhilarating close at the Kalinga Stadium.
Competing on home soil, both teams delivered commendable performances that have set high hopes for the upcoming matches.
The Indian Men’s team emerged victorious in five out of their eight matches, placing them third in the standings with 15 points, just one point behind the joint leaders, England and Spain. Notable victories included triumphs over Germany and Ireland, with standout performances from Mandeep Singh and Sukhjeet Singh, who each scored three crucial goals. Captain Harmanpreet Singh expressed pride in his team’s efforts, highlighting the impressive contributions of the younger players.
The Women’s team, currently sixth on the leaderboard with nine points, also displayed resilience and determination. Their campaign featured two wins and two draws, with a remarkable draw against World No.1 the Netherlands, followed by a bonus point victory in the shootout. Captain Salima Tete emphasized the team’s growing confidence and commitment to improving in upcoming matches.
