In a strong statement issued on Thursday, the Indian Army expressed solidarity with innocent civilians affected by cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector, calling the attacks “indiscriminate and orchestrated” by the adversary.

“The Indian Army stands with the innocent victims of these unprovoked artillery strikes. The nefarious designs of our enemies have been and will continue to be thwarted with resolute and punitive action,” said an official army communication.

The renewed shelling by Pakistani forces has intensified tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), especially in the backdrop of Operation Sindoor and escalating diplomatic friction between the two nations. The Indian Army has assured a firm and proportional response to any civilian targeting, underscoring its commitment to both national security and the protection of non-combatants.

Security officials have also indicated that precision counter-measures are underway to neutralize the origin points of the hostile fire.

Local authorities have urged residents in forward villages to remain indoors and follow advisories as evacuation and relief measures are being coordinated in affected areas.
