Following India’s impressive victory against arch-rivals Pakistan in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, senior batter KL Rahul addressed the media ahead of their final group match against New Zealand in Dubai.
Securing their place in the tournament’s semi-finals has brought significant excitement, but concerns over the fitness of key players have emerged.
Skipper Rohit Sharma, who was observed struggling with a hamstring issue during the match, and senior pacer Mohammed Shami, who recently returned from injury, had both left the field during Pakistan’s innings. They later returned to play but raised alarms about their readiness for upcoming matches.
In the press conference, Rahul provided a reassuring update on their conditions. “From what I know, everything seems pretty okay,” he informed reporters. “There’s no real concern about anyone missing games as far as I know. We’ll probably know more in today’s training. Everyone’s been in the gym, everyone has been in the training as well. Little, some concerns, but I don’t think too much.”
India is set to play their final group fixture against New Zealand, with their eyes firmly on the upcoming first semi-final in Dubai. The team and fans alike remain optimistic about the participation of Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami in the crucial stages of the tournament.
