Hockey India announced an 18-member squad for the 2025 Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled from November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai.
Defender and dragflicker Rohit will captain the side after his strong performance in the Sultan of Johor Cup. Moreover, star striker Araijeet Singh Hundal will miss the tournament due to a shoulder injury, which creates a significant gap in the forward line.
The team, coached by former India goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh, will compete in Pool B alongside Chile, Switzerland, and Oman. Furthermore, the squad features a mix of experienced defenders, balanced midfielders, and promising forwards, giving India depth across all departments.
Goalkeepers Bikramjit Singh and Princedeep Singh will guard the posts. In addition, Rohit, Talem Priyobarta, Anmol Ekka, Amir Ali, Sunil Palakshappa Bennur, and Shardanand Tiwari will form the defensive unit. Midfield responsibilities will be handled by Ankit Pal, Thounaojam Ingalemba Luwang, Adrohit Ekka, Rosan Kujur, Manmeet Singh, and Gurjot Singh, ensuring stability in the centre of the pitch.
The forward line includes Arshdeep Singh, Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, Ajeet Yadav, and Dilraj Singh. Meanwhile, Ravneet Singh and Rohit Kullu have been named as alternate players, ready to step in if required.
India enters the tournament with confidence, aiming to build on recent performances. Additionally, the squad reflects a balance of youth and experience, with Rohit’s leadership expected to anchor the team.
The Junior World Cup will showcase emerging talent and provide India’s young players with an opportunity to prove themselves on the global stage. Finally, Hockey India expressed optimism about the team’s chances, highlighting the preparation and commitment shown during training camps.
