The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium delivered a high-octane, run-filled spectacle on March 5, 2026, as defending champions India edged out England in a nail-biting contest to book their place in the final.

India posted a formidable 253/7 after England captain Harry Brook won the toss and elected to field. Sanju Samson stole the show with a blistering 89 off 42 balls, providing the aggressive platform, while contributions from Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, and others pushed the total to record-equaling heights on a batting-friendly pitch. The innings featured explosive strokeplay, with India hammering numerous sixes in the death overs.

In reply, England launched a fearless chase fueled by Jacob Bethell’s maiden T20I century—a stunning counter-attacking knock that kept them in the hunt deep into the innings. Despite the fireworks, India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah’s economical and crucial spells in the pressure overs, held their nerve. England finished at 246/7, falling agonisingly short by 7 runs in one of the highest-scoring semi-finals in T20 World Cup history.

The victory marks India’s third consecutive semi-final appearance and sets up a blockbuster final clash against New Zealand, where the Men in Blue will aim to defend their title from 2024.
