India sealed a memorable 2-1 series win over England with a thrilling 13-run victory in the final ODI at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday, powered by a brilliant century from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and a six-wicket haul by young pacer Kranti Goud.

Opting to bat first, India posted a commanding 318/5. Kaur led from the front with a fluent 102 off 84 balls—her seventh ODI century—while Jemimah Rodrigues (50 off 45) and Richa Ghosh (38 off 18) provided vital finishing touches. Strong partnerships throughout the innings, including a 110-run stand between Kaur and Rodrigues, helped India set a formidable target.

In response, England stumbled early as Goud removed both openers in her opening spell. Despite a 162-run stand between Nat Sciver-Brunt (98) and Emma Lamb (68), India kept the pressure on. Goud returned at the death to claim key wickets, finishing with figures of 6/52 and becoming the second-youngest Indian woman to claim a five-wicket haul in ODIs.

With 14 needed in the final over and one wicket remaining, Goud bowled Lauren Bell to wrap up the match and series for India.

The win also marked Harmanpreet Kaur’s entry into the 4000-run club in ODIs, joining Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana.

Brief Scores:

  • India Women: 318/5 (Harmanpreet 102, Rodrigues 50, Deol 45)

  • England Women: 305 all out (Sciver-Brunt 98, Lamb 68; Goud 6/52)

India won by 13 runs.
