The Senior Men’s Selection Committee of the BCCI has announced the squads for two major domestic fixtures: the India A team for a three-match one-day series against Australia A, and the Rest of India (ROI) squad for the prestigious Irani Cup.
India A will play their matches in Kanpur starting September 30, while the Irani Cup will be held in Nagpur from October 1, where ROI will face Vidarbha, the reigning Ranji Trophy champions.
Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the India A side for all three matches. The first match squad includes promising talents like Prabhsimran Singh, Riyan Parag, Ayush Badoni, and Ravi Bishnoi. For the second and third matches, Tilak Verma joins as vice-captain, with additions like Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh strengthening the lineup.
The Rest of India squad will be led by Rajat Patidar, with Ruturaj Gaikwad serving as vice-captain. The team features a mix of experienced and emerging players including Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ishan Kishan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Akash Deep.
Notably, Shreyas Iyer has opted to take a six-month break from red-ball cricket due to recurring back spasms following his surgery. He will focus on building endurance and fitness during this period and was therefore not considered for the Irani Cup squad.
