The Lok Sabha has formed a select committee to examine the Income-Tax Bill, 2025. BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda has been appointed as the chairman of this 31-member panel.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) holds the majority with 17 seats, while the opposition has 13 seats. The committee includes prominent members from both sides, such as Nishikant Dubey and Deepender Singh Hooda.
The report is expected to be presented by the first day of the Monsoon Session, which will likely start in the third week of July. The Bill aims to simplify tax terms and make them more understandable.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved the Bill in Lok Sabha and requested the Speaker to refer it to a select committee for further examination.
