The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange alerts for parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday, predicting moderate to heavy spells of rainfall.
A red alert was enforced for North, North-West, West, and South-West Delhi, while an orange alert covered Central, North-East, and South-East Delhi.
Gurugram remained under a yellow alert. Temperatures in the national capital hovered between a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 26 degrees Celsius.
The unseasonal wet spell directly impacted Karwa Chauth celebrations, as women observing the fast traditionally wait to sight the moon before breaking it.
Amateur weatherman Navdeep Dahiya warned that persistent showers and heavy cloud cover across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh would likely obstruct visibility at night.
According to the IMD’s seven-day forecast, thunderstorms and rain will continue on Oct 30 with temperatures reaching 27 degrees Celsius, before skies gradually clear by Oct 31, paving the way for clearer weather into Nov.
