Director Rajkumar Periasamy has clarified that OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, starring Dhanush and Mammootty, will not feature a serialised narrative despite its title.
Slated for a theatrical release on Nov 20, 2026, the action drama will reach a complete story conclusion within its first instalment itself.
According to sources, Periasamy explained that the plot revolves around various characters linked together for a specific cause, branching out into emotional sub-narratives.
He emphasised that the movie is an emotional action drama rather than a traditional gangster film, noting that Mammootty’s character draws inspiration from migrant American figures in Martin Scorsese’s works.
The star-studded cast also features Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in uncharacteristic roles, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Initially scheduled for Oct 16, 2026, the film’s release was postponed to avoid a major box office clash with other high-profile November releases.
Meanwhile, Dhanush’s busy work front includes upcoming collaborations with director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu for D56 and a reunion with Vetrimaaran for Thamizh Murugan.
