A powerful explosion in an illegal firecracker warehouse at Khalarda village under Sadar police limits killed one person and damaged nearby houses on Sunday.
According to reports, the victim was a local resident who had been packing firecrackers inside the warehouse when the blast occurred. The impact blew away asbestos sheets and destroyed two houses in the vicinity.
Police confirmed that the firecracker business was operating illegally. Following the incident, the trader allegedly involved in the warehouse has gone absconding.
Sadar police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Officials are examining how the illegal unit continued operations and whether safety violations led to the tragedy.
