Researchers at IIT Bhubaneswar have unveiled Simply-Swap, a groundbreaking mobile and web application designed to simplify seat-swapping among train passengers.
Developed by students Rustam Kumar and Sangam Mishra, along with faculty members Dr. Srikant Gollapudi and Dr. Srinivas Pinisetty, the app seeks to address the challenge of family members often being seated in different coaches during travel.
Inspired by Dr. Gollapudi’s personal experiences, the app enables users to post their seat details, desired swaps, and train information with minimal effort. Passengers on the same train can view and accept the swap requests, facilitating seamless coordination. This innovation is set to improve passenger convenience and satisfaction, aligning with Indian Railways’ vision for technology-driven travel enhancement.
The creators of Simply-Swap are currently engaging with start-ups and venture capitalists to explore commercialization opportunities. Their effort exemplifies IIT Bhubaneswar’s commitment to leveraging technology for practical, real-world solutions.
