The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 concluded with India national cricket team defeating New Zealand national cricket team in a commanding final in Ahmedabad, securing back-to-back world titles.
Following the tournament’s conclusion, the International Cricket Council announced the official Team of the Tournament, featuring standout performers from across participating nations.
India dominated the selection with four players included in the elite XI, led by Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson, whose remarkable performances played a pivotal role in India’s championship campaign.
Sanju Samson Headlines India’s Representation
Sanju Samson emerged as the tournament’s most influential player, delivering match-winning performances in the knockout stages. His unbeaten 97, followed by back-to-back scores of 89 and 89, sealed his position as one of the most consistent batters in the competition.
Joining Samson in the ICC Team of the Tournament are fellow Indian stars Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah. Kishan scored 317 runs during the tournament, while Pandya impressed with his all-round contributions. Bumrah once again proved to be India’s bowling spearhead, delivering crucial breakthroughs throughout the tournament.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan Tops Run Charts
Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan also secured a spot in the XI after finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 383 runs, including two centuries.
Farhan was selected ahead of Finn Allen, who had a strong tournament for New Zealand with 298 runs at a strike rate of 200, but narrowly missed out on inclusion.
Markram Leads Multi-Nation Squad
The ICC selection panel appointed Aiden Markram of South Africa national cricket team as captain of the Team of the Tournament. South Africa also saw fast bowler Lungi Ngidi included after impressive performances during their semifinal run.
England also had two representatives in the squad. All-rounder Will Jacks earned recognition for his consistent performances with both bat and ball, while veteran spinner Adil Rashid was named as the lead spinner.
Global Representation in the Final XI
The squad reflects the global nature of the tournament, with standout performers from multiple cricketing nations included.
All-rounder Jason Holder represented the West Indies cricket team after an impressive comeback tournament. Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani was also selected following a strong bowling campaign that helped his team reach the later stages.
Associate nations also received recognition, with Shadley van Schalkwyk of the United States national cricket team named as the 12th man after claiming 13 wickets in just four matches.
