A hotel owner was murdered late Tuesday night in Odisha’s Puri town, sending shockwaves through the Baliapanda area.
The victim, identified as Pabitra Nayak, owned Manorama Hotel. Reports said a group of assailants attacked him and stabbed him to death during an altercation. Police reached the spot quickly, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Investigators revealed that a dispute over hotel rooms rented through the OYO platform may have triggered the fatal attack. Police stated that three to four persons allegedly assaulted Nayak and stabbed him multiple times. Officers registered a case and launched a probe to identify and arrest the attackers.
This morning, police tracked one accused, Chandan Kumar Palar. He sustained injuries in an encounter with the police and was hospitalised. Authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
